The appropriate thing to say first is Welcome. So, let’s get that out of the way.
Welcome.
Now a little explanation is in order.
I suppose this all stems from Larkin’s inability to focus on any one subject for longer than about two minutes. Unless the subject is sex. Then she seems to have no problem focusing. She and I get together (virtually, not literally) and brainstorm. It always starts with “I have this idea about XYZ.” Next thing I know, it’s three in the morning, a book is well on its way to plotted, and I’m destined to drag ass through work the next day.
In the middle of one of those late night sessions, the idea came up for a craft (writing not wicca) focused blog. And wouldn’t it be neat if we invited other writers to play, too? So we did. We invited writers that we like and respect. And what an honor to have a this group of uniquely skilled women on board. Click on the page links above and learn a little about us. We each have a different perspective/flavor to our writing.
Using this forum, we will take turns exploring different topics by posting weekly blogs. Andi was gracious enough to be our guinea pig and go first, so thanks for that, Andi. Next up we’ll hear from Cliffi, and so on down the line.
Happy writing y’all!
Jove
Ummmm…I KNOW you didn’t just blame this website on me!!!????
And you say this “focus on sex only” like it’s a problem or something…*grin*
As for those late-night plots…Muah!
Larkin
A blog for writers of f/f seems like a wonderful thing.
A focus on sex doesn’t bother me! Actually, though, sex spins off into so many other topics & every topic could lead to sex if you let it!
Here are some possible topics:
- Do you think f/f writing has changed recently? (Since 2000 or since 1990 or since 1969, or…)
- What’s popular these days?
- Do you have role models among the f/f writers of the past? (Or maybe the present.)
- Do you have pet peeves about the f/f writing you don’t like?
(Here’s mine: 2 women meet, fall passionately in love, have sex in various places, including some that are fairly public, and the social context isn’t mentioned at all. There seems to be no local lesbian community, and also no homophobia OR male chauvinism to deal with.)
Jean, thanks for the ideas. Maybe I’ll hit you up for a guest blog! Seems like you have a bit to say about the last subject in particular and I know we’ll have varying opinions.
Oh, and before India smacks me for not making it more clear, she’s straight. And she writes m/f erotica. And Moon is bi, but writes mostly f/f and f/f/m. Right, Moon?
The goal was to have a place to discuss women in fiction, our writing, etc, in general. The f/f just was a natural progression since the majority of the writers I know are lesbian. Definitely not an intentional exclusion of any other demographic.
Happy writing, y’all,
Jove
And yes, Larkin, I do blame you. It’s that lack of FOCUS that keeps me spinning off in strange directions. But it’s okay. You make me laugh and that’s all that matters.
Muah!
No, Moon is a lesbian (used to indentify as bi, looong story, still kept the hubby, even more of a looooonger story) But yes, most of what I write is f/f except for two books not yet contracted (my muse is pansexual I think)
Oops. Sorry, Moon. I remember discussing this in the past, but wasn’t sure of the outcome. Glad you kept the husband. Who else will trouble shoot my computer problems from across the country?
