And we have a winner – Congratulations Cheryl!
Andi is giving away a copy of her latest release, Land of Entrapment. Leave a comment on this post and you’ll be entered into a drawing. The winner will be chosen a week from today (October 4th). Good luck!
Land of Entrapment
K.C. Fontero left New Mexico in the wake of a bitter break-up to take an academic fellowship in Texas. With a doctorate in sociology and expertise in white supremacist groups, she’s on her way to an academic career. But a plea for help from her ex, Melissa, brings K.C. back to Albuquerque to find Melissa’s troubled younger sister. Megan has disappeared with her white supremacist boyfriend and K.C. knows she has the expertise to track the mysterious group, and she knows she’ll be doing a public service to uncover it. What she doesn’t know is how far into her past she’ll have to go to find both Megan and herself and the deeper she digs into the group, the greater the danger she faces.

Andi, I already have my signed copy (and I’m probably not allowed to win anyway), but I still want to, dammit! It’s a great freakin’ book.
I need a book to read!!!! See I finally entered something Jove.
Cait! ’bout damn time, woman! I can’t believe you don’t have this book. *shakes head* What am I going to do with you?
Sounds like a great read.
Cheryl,
You’ll find out for sure if you win.
I suppose I can’t win either, but I’m ordering mine today. Can’t wait to read.
Cliffi
[...] Women and Words for details and to enter. There’ll be a drawing on October. [...]
The book’s near the top of my TBB list (To Be Bought), but there’s no telling when I’ll stop running long enough to get that organized, so I’m chiming in here.
Sacchi
Awesome book, can’t wait for the next installment!
Beth
I’m probably not allowed to win, but I thought I should confess that I’m in love with one of the characters.
Why wouldn’t you be allowed to win? Cliffi and I aren’t because we share this site with Andi (along with the other five women). That just wouldn’t be fair.
Which one are you in love with? I’ve got a serious crush on Chris. And Sage. And K.C. And…
Jove
Ooh, yes please
It’s on my extended to-buy list, but with my self-imposed policy of no new books until I’ve read what I have it might take a while to get there.
So this would be a neat loophole!
I would LOVE a copy!!
How exciting for you, congratulations Ms. Marquette~
I would love a (free) copy of your first novel! Perhaps it could be my next selection for one or both of my book clubs. I am fortunate to have time (ha ha-sometimes) to enjoy TWO book clubs! One of which is a lesbian authors/content theme.
Best wishes!!
~Daena
Anything Andi writes – I want!

That looks like a good read. Congrats on your first novel. I love a good mystery.
Erica
Sounds like a good book. I’d love a free copy, but if I don’t win it is on my to-buy list. tara
I have a total crush on Chris, I admit it. I can’t wait for the next book either
Andi, never one to shirk the hard topics, here goes.
Why isnt this brilliant novel available in eBook?
I have noticed of late that the only publisher releasing their latest titles as eBooks is BSB.
This means that eBook addicts like myself, who want instantaneous delivery of your latest novel right blummin NOW, cant get hold of it.
While I would treasure a paper copy, especially a signed one
, I would love to be able to get my hands on this story via cyber space.
What is wrong with these publishing houses? Surely it cant cost much to scan a book and offer it as an ebook. After all didnt it get sent to the printer in electronic format.
We all know that converting any electronic format to eBook is as simple as one, two, three; so wht dont they just DO IT?
I want this book and I want it NOW!!!!!!!
Congratulations on the release of your first novel Andi.

Howdy, all–thanks boo-coo for signing up. Daena, that would be pretty dang awesome if you featured “Land” in one of your book clubs! (or, heck, go wild–BOTH! HAR!) .
Devlyn–ebooks. I am currently in negotiation with a distributor to make my stuff available as ebooks. A little bit about that–I retained my ebook rights with my main publishing house, which allows me as an author greater control over the product. However, because of that, I also have to negotiate with my publisher to try to use the cover image of the books on the ebook versions, because for marketing purposes, it’s better to have the same cover on all versions. I therefore have to negotiate with my publisher as well to ensure I can use the cover image. But that could be a problem because the publisher might say “no way” because the publisher isn’t necessarily getting anything out of my ebook beyond publicity. The other reason I retained my ebook rights is so I can price my ebooks at a more reasonable cost to readers. If I retain control of my rights and work directly with a distributor, then I get to price the book. A publishing house, however, wants to make a lot of money, so the publisher might price an ebook much higher than what I want it priced at. Not to diss publishing houses–they’re businesses, after all, and that’s what they need to do. Make money. It’s just that I’m kind of strange in that I think that an ebook should not cost the same as a paper version. In fact, I believe that it should cost a lot less. And that’s one of the reasons I wanted to retain rights over my ebooks. Because I’m weird.
I am totally gung-ho about ebooks, so no worries. I’m hustling that angle and trying to get this all taken care of ASAP. I’ll keep everyone posted. With regard to your other question about why more publishers (and by extension, lesfic houses) aren’t offering ebooks–well, they’re not going to make as much money off them, is one of the arguments I’ve heard. One of the other reasons I’ve heard is that “we don’t have the equipment.” Well, for some of the really small houses, getting the encryption and ability to pay the site directly is time- and maybe cost-prohibitive. Keep in mind that publishing houses don’t want someone to buy an ebook and then disseminate it all over the planet. That’s why you need encryption ability and you need to up your security on your site so people can pay the site directly. But smaller houses are offering ebooks through distributors. HOWEVER! I’m seeing and hearing a shift in that, and I think eventually more houses are going to offer ebooks. Now, I could go through Kindle on Amazon, perhaps, but again, I wanted to retain greater control of the pricing, so that’s why I’m trying to work this with a smaller distributor because I want my ebooks to be affordable and readily available through someone who already has the infrastructure in place. So anyway. That’s where I am with regard to ebooks. And believe me, this process is taking a hell of a lot longer than I’d like, but hopefully once I get the process in place with someone, it’ll go more smoothly.
Thanks a bunch and if you have any further questions, drop me a line directly at my website.
peace out, all!
And thanks for signing up!
cheers,
–andi
Congratulations on the publication of your first novel. It sounds very interesting. In these troubled times of Middle Eastern right wing fundamentalism and rabid Republican party clout, it is good to remember the small pockets of vipers that still cling to nazism. As I said, your book sounds like a great read.
[...] unrelated matter, I’m giving a copy of my first novel, Land of Entrapment, away in a drawing. Click here for details and to enter. The drawing’s on October [...]
Pick me! Pick me!
I’ve been told you are brilliant! Therefore, I must read this book, please and thank you!
