Classic

In honor of the news that Lee Lynch’s novel, Beggar of Love, has been chosen as a 2012 Pride Read by the Seattle Public Library, I’ve decided to post a vlog rerun, or classic, as I prefer to call it. Lee Lynch is definitely a classic in my book.

Questions – how many of you utilize your local library for your reading needs? Do you find the books you want on the shelves? Do you ask the librarians to stock your choices? Chime in.

  1. Great news about Lee’s book! … I love my local library. It’s a small one in a small town but if I want a book they don’t have but another library does, it get’s delivered door-to-door. (library doors – not mine) I’ve requested two books to be stocked. One turned up and the other is still ‘pending’

  2. absolutely I use our library. the magic is in library districts. you can go on line and ask for a book and if any one of numerous libraries in the district have it, you can pick it up at your library. i have requested books be stocked and gifted them when it became clear a library wasn’t about to spend limited resources on a queer book. i don’t do that enough. i have very clear memories of finding djuna barnes’ Nightwood in a library when i was in junior high – it was incredibly important to who i am today. getting our books in libraries is another way of affirming gay kids.Thank you, Carsen!
